They say we are taking over the world. They say “dykes” are the new “fags”. We’re classy, sassy, we are fashionable, and always have the latest hairstyles. Women envy us, men wana screw us. They say we can’t be monogamous. Apparently, we are promiscuous. We live in a world of our own. We know how to party, we know how play, give us a dull scene and in no time you’ll have a queer scene. What drives us? Where does the confidence come from?
Hell I don’t know, I’m just comfy being me. If you got a problem feel free to pretend that I don’t exist, I’ll still be around. Have you ever gone to a ladies club or ladies party? Do note ladies parties have nothing to do with getting our nails done! The other night a few of my sisters and I were talking about an upcoming ladies party and this one chic (straight of course) asks “so you gals going to one of those parties where you get mani’s and peddi’s?” The whole choir sang NO!!!! But I have to confess I personally am yet to experience the rant and rave about the ladies parties. Ladies clubs are quite interesting, so much fun too… after a while you basically know most of the people and like Alice’s chart (The L Word) you find that you are connected to quite a few people (not always sexually).
At the end of the day you literally find that you know most of your fellow sisters, whether closet or not, bi or total lesbo’s. You are bound to meet some one who knows some one who knows some one.
At clubs you’ll also find that most gals has there own lil style going for them. In fact it looks like we all step out of a magazine… just different ones. Where as in your day to day straight club, every body basically looks the same; you see them in different shades and shapes. They are trend followers, where as we are trend setters. Hell just look at the L word those gals got it going! You don’t see Beth and Alice wearing similar outfits. Their style is as different as there personalities. In happy hetro world you find that some gals feel so uncomfy in what they are wearing, simple reason being that it doesn’t flaunt there best features. A word of advice… you don’t have to own everything that the media is portraying as the latest fashion and you definitely do not need to have every outfit your best friend has in her closet. Gals the whole idea is to be noticed as an INDIVIDUAL (please say this word… INDIVIDUAL). If you don’t know the meaning please go look it up… ones you understand it, you’ll see your world in a different light…and that would be the glamorous world of DELICIOUS you.
My point is simple… We are here. What ever we are called, we are able to pull the word off… don’t hate our unique styles; rather feel free to be inspired. There is nothing wrong with being a lil different! The world is already dull enough we don’t need to contribute to that fact. Be a lil queer; make the world a pretty place filled with all the pretty colors of the rainbow. hey go out and paint the streets all the colors of the rainbow, instead of just boring old red… more is always better, queer is always brighter.
Don’t be shy, the fabulous you, you can’t deny. Note: Please be confident in what ever you are in, whether those stilettos or sneakers… even your skin… confidence always helps pulling that sexy snazzy look of.
