WANTED: LESBIAN COUPLES

I don't know about you, but when I just came out I didn't really know many stable lesbian couples. I had almost nobody to look up to. I had no idea, what it would be like to be in a "real" relationship with a woman. Call it a lack of role-models. And it took me quite some time to really find somebody that I could settle down with. And even then, I had little to look up to and learn from.

That is why I started the "Featured Couples" section on www.capetownlesbians.co.za - I want to put a face to the lesbian couples that did work out. The happily-ever-after's of our society. They are out there. They are fabulous. And I want the world to see that.

If you are one of these couples, and you are willing to make a small contribution to the world of lesbians, please contact me regarding being a featured couple. You can even use pseudonyms if you want. For now, I'll probably feature one couple per month. But I'd very much like to reach the point where I can feature a couple every week.

Here is an example of a featured couple that we have online already:
http://www.capetownlesbians.co.za/article-archive/featured-couples/164-aug09-jasmin-siobhan.html (a special thanks to Jasmin & Siobhan from Adam & Eve!)

Note that the format is not set in stone. It can be interview questions, a story written about the journey the two of you had, or anything else that you can think of.

And you don't have to fit into a certain mold to be a featured couple. I want couples of all ages from all walks of life.

****Only requirement is that you must have been together for at least 2 years already.

WANTED: YOUR SECRETS CONFESSED

www.capetownlesbians.co.za has recently launched the CTL Confessional. This is a space where you can confess your secrets anonymously. And of course, read the secrets that have been confessed by others.

Secrets reflect a lot upon us individually but they also reflect upon our common culture. Sharing a secret can be thought of as a spiritual experience, among other ways. Secrets represent something more than we can see. Sharing a secret can be a search for grace.

To see the secrets that have been posted already, visit
http://www.capetownlesbians.co.za/ctl-confessional/184-ctl-confessional-august-2009.html

Anonymity is key. Rest assured all secrets will remain absolutely anonymous.

Confess your secrets to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
- Create your own design and post your secret. Secrets can be sent in any format.
- Please only use images/graphical elements that you have the right to use. If we discover that a "secret" has been constructed using copyrighted material, the secret will be removed immediately.
- For those less creative, you could just send your secret via email and we will design your card for you :)

- Logo or photograph
- Contact details (e-mail, phone, cellphone, website)

- Short Description of the services that you offer

For R179 the business will be listed for one year from the date on which the listing goes online.

WANTED: ARTICLES WRITTEN BY YOU FOR www.capetownlesbians.co.za

I'm always on the look out for talented writers to contribute to www.capetownlesbians.co.za

I publish original articles of between 500-1000 words. I prefer thoughtful, well-researched, question-led articles but interviews and reviews are also acceptable. (I publish fiction and poetry under the Art & Literature section). I also accept articles that have been published previously.

The primary target is Cape Town-based lesbian and bisexual women. I welcome writers from outside of the Cape Town, but please avoid writing about issues that may not be understood by South African readers.

Articles don’t have to be about LGBT topics - I welcome articles on general issues as long as they are written with a lesbian/bisexual audience in mind.

If you’re interested in writing for www.capetownlesbians, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your proposed article or idea for an article. Not all articles will be published.
