Book Launch - TRANS: Transgender life stories from South Africa - Friday, 20 November

Date: Friday, 20 November
Time: 18:00 - 21:00

TRANS: Transgender life stories from South Africa
Edited by Ruth Morgan, Charl Marais and Joy Rosemary Wellbeloved

TRANS: Transgender life stories from South Africa takes the reader on a journey into the many worlds inhabited by transgender South Africans. The life stories recounted in this collection are both inspiring and compelling and reveal the courage and strength of each of the story tellers involved. The narratives detail the constant challenges of living in a country, that, despite its progressive Constitution, is still host to myriad prejudices and misunderstandings when it comes to trans people.

Beach Picnic - Clifton 3rd beach Thursday 26 November
Clifton 3rd beach
Thursday 26 November
Time: 18:00- 21:00

Cape Town Lesbians haven't had an offical event in ages. And as it is now officially summer, I'd love for us girls to get together for a beach picnic. Come enjoy the beautify and magic of a Clifton sunset, and share the sights and sounds of the seashore with friends and family.

Bring along
- A warm top (even in summer, evenings on the beach can get cold)
- A blanket to sit on
- Something to eat and something to drink
- Your friends. Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Straight-but-supportive, whatever - bring them along. Everyone are welcome.
- Some candles. You could cut the bottom off 2L bottles and use them as candle holders (just fill them up with sand and stick them into the ground), or you can use brown bags to put sand and candles in. Or whatever you can think of - be creative.

For the official facebook event page, see http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=168708588876

P.S. I know how to get to Clifton 3rd beach, but I have no idea how to explain it. If anyone of you are good with directions, and know how to get there, please e-mail me the directions to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so that I can include it on the event page and in the next newsletter.
