Hi Girls,
I know you love Cape Town Lesbians' website (what's not to love?). So please share some of the love and become a fan of the website on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/wwwcapetownlesbianscoza/229574875113?ref=ts
Thanks to all of you who sent me info for camp sites - I'll be contacting them all as soon as this week is over, and will let you know the details of the camp as soon as possible.
I'm rather impressed with the interest you girls are showing for tonight's beach picnic (details below) - 161 confirmed and 237 maybe's - it's going to be one hell of a picnic. A very special thanks to Bridget for writing up directions - you can see the directions here http://bit.ly/7iQWkQ and I've also posted it on the event page (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=168708588876). Now I'm just hoping that it doesn't rain. Hold thumbs, girls!
As for the rest of your newsletter...

Beach Picnic - Clifton 3rd beach Thursday 26 November
Clifton 3rd beach
Thursday 26 November
Time: 18:00- 21:00
Cape Town Lesbians haven't had an offical event in ages. And as it is now officially summer, I'd love for us girls to get together for a beach picnic. Come enjoy the beautify and magic of a Clifton sunset, and share the sights and sounds of the seashore with friends and family.
Bring along
- A warm top (even in summer, evenings on the beach can get cold)
- A blanket to sit on
- Something to eat and something to drink
- Your friends. Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Straight-but-supportive, whatever - bring them along. Everyone are welcome.
- Some candles. You could cut the bottom off 2L bottles and use them as candle holders (just fill them up with sand and stick them into the ground), or you can use brown bags to put sand and candles in. Or whatever you can think of - be creative.
For the official facebook event page, see http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=168708588876

There is a group of gay women (they would like gay men to join too!) who has established a weekly prayer meeting in Gordons Bay on a Tuesday (or any other suitable week-night.) Their ultimate goal is to have it grow so big that they can become a fully fledged church, not disimilar to MCC in Zonnebloem. They want to attract gay people from the Helderberg region, Grabouw, Stellenbosch and even Cape Town. They feel that many gays do not feel comfortable in main stream churches yet; it is not that they want to seperate themselves from "others", but for now this is were they feel at ease.

There has been a recent song that got me thinking about what success is. Its called 22,by Lilly Allen the opening lines caught me by surprise and a range of emotions went through me.

The Quest for Indifference
I am tired of the word ‘tolerance’. The dictionary records several meanings of this particular word- which now includes ‘acceptance’. To me, however, it means that someone does not agree with my ‘lifestyle’ but that they permit me to live it. And I have not asked for society’s permission to live my life in any way, shape or form. So, as far as words go- ‘tolerance’ is not my favourite.
