There are a few routes - will try give the simplest ones or easiest to follow, not necessarily the shortest!

M3 to Hosital Bend / DeWaal Drive
From Southern Suburbs M5
Take M5 - obviously
You can go to N2 or N1 (the road works on N1 are a little bit trickier to navigate)
You can either take N2 / CAPE TOWN TURN OFF once your on the N2 stay on the right side and follow boards to DE WAAL DRIVE / CAPE TOWN(thats at Hospital Bend), At the top of Hospital Bend the road splits to Cape Town or De Waal Drive - stick to CAPE TOWN SIDE ... the road going away from the mountain.
Whether you are on the N1 or N2 - follow the boards to CAPE TOWN / WATERFRONT.
At the Waterfront intersection if you carry on straight toward table mountain ... that road is BUITENGRACHT ...
Option 1 from here:
Carry on straight with Buitengracht ... follow cable car signs to table mountain. On the nek of the moutain, you will turn right (be careful there are 2 rights - the camps bay side one is the one you want, the cape town side right goes to signal hill and lions head). Just cant remember that roads name. That road will wind down the mountain. You'll eventually get to a STOP, with a skew T-junction . Turn left and follow the road down further. The next T-junction you get is beach road or main road ... along the coast ... turn right ... and just a little way along you will find CLIFTON BEACH 4, 3, 2, 1, on your left hand side.
There are boards showing the beach no's. Find parking and start the long stair case climb down. See you there!!!
Option 2 from Waterfront.
Carry on straight into Buitengracht, the 2nd robot (after waterfront) is Riebeeck street / Somerset Road (The road that Beaulah's is on). Turn right into Somerset Road, drive through GREEN POINT, drive through SEA POINT. Towards the end of Sea Point (Just after St Johns, near Woolies / Checkers), the road will fork, follow the right fork into REGENT ROAD. At the end of Regent Road, you'll get a traffic circle, go left and then first right towards Bantry Bay. Follow that road and you'll eventually get to the Clifton beaches on your right hand side, start with Beach 1.
Just a warning for those of you inclined to drink and drive ... they often have road blocks in somerset road near the green point stadium!!!
